Leah and her twelve brothers is a story within a story, the book starts out as someone telling a girl about Leah's stories. Leah is girl who has twelve brothers, all of her brothers live far away from their home and they send gifts for Leah. Every so many days a stranger from a different country arrives at Leah's door and hands her four gifts, they also bring news of one of her brothers. Leah takes the gifts into her house and opens them up, each of the four gifts is connected in someway and Leah works out how. She goes and lays on her hammock overlooking the sea and relives the story of how the gifts came to be.
I really enjoyed this book, its so easy to pick up and put down. The stories are all different though many have a similar outcome, but i found i could start reading and go back at another time. I was confused as to who the first people talking in the book were, i think it was a father telling Leah's story to his daughter, effectively a story within a story within a story. But once you start reading the stories you will want to read the next. This is a great book and I recommend it to anyone who wants a pick up/put down book.
